South Boston Homes for Sale

South Boston’s proximity to both the waterfront and downtown draws potential residents to its classic triple-decker homes and new residential developments.
Accessible by subway via the Red Line, South Boston’s Broadway t-stop brings you directly to the neighborhood’s main thoroughfare. The streets are lettered, as A through G are known as West Broadway and streets G through P are considered East Broadway. Here you’ll find a number of local businesses and restaurants frequented by visitors and residents.
If you like great pub food, this is the place for you. Some local favorites are Shenannigan’s, Stats, The Junction, and Boston Beer Garden. Boston sports fans gather to watch games throughout the week, and these establishments are especially popular on Saturday nights and Sunday mornings for brunch. On Sunday nights, you’ll find a line of people awaiting entrance to The Playwright for a fun evening of live country music. South Boston has some newer, more upscale dining options as well, like Local 149, Lincoln Tavern, and Franklin Cafe.
South Boston is a very active, pet-friendly neighborhood. On the weekends, you’ll find residents popping in and out of boutiques and restaurants and strolling along the streets with their dogs. People all over the city enjoy walking, running, and rollerblading near Castle Island, a Revolutionary War-era fort and park located near the waterfront. In the summertime, many people head to M Street Beach to relax with friends and watch boats sail on the harbor.
Another main attraction is the JFK Library and Museum, located on Columbia Point. The library houses original papers and correspondence of the Kennedy Administration, and the museum’s theaters and exhibits vividly recreate the events of the Kennedy Presidency for visitors.
The most well-known event in South Boston is the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Residents and visitors crowd the sidewalks, donned in green, to celebrate the neighborhood’s Irish heritage. “Southie pride” plays an integral role in fostering this district’s sense of community.
